My husband and I purchased our first home in 2019. It was one of his childhood homes that his mother had sold to us. It’s a small cape house on a nice size property. We love it, but it just doesn’t suite us as a growing family anymore. We have thought a bunch about dormering up and making the house into a home that would work for us, but we have come to the conclusion that we would rather just buy a new house in the near future. We need more room for our children and their ever growing collection of toys! Does anyone else have this problem? If so, please give me some organizational tips- I’d be embarrassed to even show you what our basement of toys looks like.

What do you look for when buying a new house? This will really be our first experience, because buying this house was so simple for us since we bought it from family. We have a lot of wants, but also need to be realistic with our budget.
We want to stay in the same town. We want four bedrooms, a basement, a garage, a fireplace, a big yard, and a big kitchen! If possible, a mother-daughter for my MIL too!
I want this to be the home we raise our boys in until they are grown. A home that we love.
I love old style Colonials and Victorian homes- but not many of those around here (or that we can afford).
Leave your advice and tips for looking for a home and selling a home at the same time, because we are scared to make this move!
